Charity · Built free of charge
A charity calendar,
built and hosted free of charge.
Ladies First is producing a 2027 calendar to raise money for over thirty charities, each chosen by a woman who features in it. We rebuilt their website, added a shop to sell the calendar and handed the running of it to the volunteers — at no cost to the campaign.

The problem
Every pound spent on a website is a pound not raised
A charity calendar has a simple job: sell as many copies as possible, in a short window, so that the money reaches the charities. The original site was a page builder template that told the story well but could not sell the calendar itself.
The campaign is run by volunteers. Anything that needs a developer to change does not get changed — it waits, and a fundraising window measured in weeks does not wait with it. A wrong price or a missing product is not money made late; it is money not made.
And it had to cost the campaign nothing. A charity paying an agency to raise money for charity is a poor use of the money it raises.
What we built
A site the volunteers can run without us
Every decision was weighed against one question: can they do this on a Sunday evening without ringing anyone?
The women and their charities
Each woman in the calendar, the charity she chose and why — over thirty organisations, with the totals worked out from the list itself so the site never shows a figure somebody forgot to update.
A shop for the calendar
The printed calendar for sale online, with donations and Gift Aid handled at the checkout, ready for the launch.
Calendar downloads
A digital version delivered only to people who have bought it, kept off the public web rather than sitting at a guessable address.
Charity logos handled properly
A charity's logo implies its endorsement, so logos appear only once that charity has supplied one — never lifted from their website.
An admin for volunteers
Products, prices, the women's stories and the look of the site — including a choice of colour themes — all editable by the people running the campaign.
Hosting and security handled
Secure connection, backups and updates on our own servers, so they are not one more job for a team of volunteers.
Where it got to
Why we did it for nothing
Charity work is part of how this firm operates rather than a marketing gesture. We take on a small number of charity projects where the website is genuinely in the way of the cause and we credit ourselves as a sponsor rather than send an invoice. This is one of them.
The site is live and the calendar launches with a red-carpet night at The Rep in Birmingham in October 2026. We will add what it raised once the money is in, rather than guess at it now.
It also started a longer relationship. The same team has since moved two more of the Ladies First group's websites onto our framework, so the volunteers learn one admin rather than three.
What it runs on
Node, PostgreSQL and server-rendered pages on our own servers. A shop with donations and Gift Aid, downloads for buyers only and an admin built for volunteers.
Running a charity
with no technical help?
We take on a small number of charity projects at no charge and we look for organisations where the website is the thing holding the cause back. Tell us what yours is stopping you doing.
